I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my father (who has everything).
I know he will love it. Great item, Great price.
When you go to buy wine, deciding which bottle to purchase can be a daunting task. This is particularly true if you aren't familiar with wine, or don't have much experience with the beverage.
If this describes you, the best thing you can do is take a cue from the experts. They've done all of the research for you, and you can leech off of their knowledge. The most efficient way to do this is to look at the ratings scale.
Wine enthusiasts and experts generally use a scale that ranges from 65-100. Broken down, this is how the ratings mean:
Less buy wines than 84: Not worth drinking. Giving this bottle of wine as a gift will make you look bad.
84-86: A pretty weak wine. If it's the only thing at a party, you'll drink it, but it isn't something you'll buy on your own.
87-89: If the wine is less than $15, it's pretty good. Don't spend any more than $15 on it, though.
90-91: Overall a good wine experience. An enjoyable wine.
92-93: Very good. Not exceptionally good, but it's something that is definitely worth buying.
94-96: An exceptional wine. This is a wine that people will talk about a week after drinking it, and will remember fondly for months.
97-100: Incredible. One of the best wine experiences you have ever had, one that is truly unforgettable.
When you go to buy wine, go to the store prepared with a list of several wines and their corresponding ratings. If saving money is something that you're interested in, choose the lowest priced wine with the highest acceptable rating. Also, talk to the people who work at the wine store. They're around the stuff all day, and most times can give you some good insight as to which wines to try.

Using A Griddle To Cook Health Foods
Since our fridge didn’t come with one of these, I bought two. They work great for wine or 2 litre bottles and uses space that otherwise is often unused, keeping wine in horizontal position. Love it!
I bought this a couple of years ago (at least) and it works great for me. Yeah sure it takes a little more time to use than a traditional opener but for me with little strength, it works great. My boyfriend makes his point by having a “race” of sorts to see who can open faster. But I still prefer my electric Oster opener! The cutter that comes with it works about as well as any cutter I’ve ever gotten with any wine opener. Sometimes it works the first time, sometimes it doesnt. But that could just be the way I apply the pressure. Anyway the opener works great. Stays charged for a long time. I had it unplugged for months and it still worked many many times. It works great on both cork and synthetic corks! If you’re a wine junkie like me and hate traditional openers, this one is the bomb.
this device works perfectly. no more shredded corks. it’s good enough to give to multiple people as gifts.
We have one of these for ourselves and wanted to share another as a gift. Easy to use. Would differently recommend.
Super awesome little handy product. Easy to use and has never failed to impress friends so far! All for under $15.
Gave this as a gift for mother’s day last year and mom loves it! Never had a problem fitting any type of bottle in it, and it truly does only take 15-20 minutes for most bottles to chill to the right temperature (and then they stay that way). Very easy to use…anyone who’s a regular wine drinker should have one…there’s no need to buy any more expensive of a wine chiller when this one works as needed.
I just received this as a gift a few days ago as a Christmas gift from my brother. I’m left wanting…I don’t believe this product is worth it’s price. The idea is great but, the basket insert sizes are not accurate. The large basket didn’t fit my bottle of wine, so it seems even though you are given a small and large basket- you should only use a small bottle of wine. Standard ice from my freezer didn’t fit into the chiller once I put the wine bottle in- you have to use small store bought ice or chipped broken pieces of ice, the sound/craftsmanship/overall quality of the product doesn’t seem worth $50. Once the timer was done (and I doubled the suggested time) the wine I poured into my glass was only slightly above room temperature- even though the bottle felt pretty darn cold once I pulled it from the chiller. Save your money. Either spend more for a better wine chiller, or get something else altogether.
This was a Christmas present for my husband that I bought for chilling wine on the spur of the moment. It worked well for the first time out. It is a glorified ice bucket – but it works and chills the wine somewhat accurately for the time allowed. It is not as fancy as some of the other designs on the market – but sometimes simple is best.
I just purchased this item and I am very disappointed with it. I agree with one of the other reviews. The bottle was cold but the wine wasn’t even after 30 minutes.
This is a very informative book, well written and easy to read.
This book takes a different approach than say, The Wine Bible. It provides you information about food and wine pairings, suggests wineries and wine regions to visit and in what season.
It also has articles on glassware, saving leftover wine, etc. This is a very practical and useful guide. It is good for novices.
He may, at times, be overly simplistic, and confuse terms. But, overall, a very good and readable book with entertaining passages.
In my mind this is more of a coffee table book. It does, however, give a pretty good overview of wine pairings, what to look for in a wine, which wines to try during the different seasons, etc. It is a good book for any wine afficianado. My boyfriend and I have really enjoyed reading through it.
I have a number of wine reference books, and most of them get put right on the bookshelf for when I need to reference them. Not this one. I have been reading it straight through, savoring every word as much as a nice glass of Rioja.
“Dr. Vino,” as he is known on his blog, not only is a wealth of information, he knows how to write in an engaging way that keeps your interest. The book is an easy read, but I still wouldn’t try to rush through it in a single sitting. You’ll certainly want to refer to it again and again, but you will absorb more of the information if you take your time.
Within this book are numerous tips to selecting wines for the season and your meal (or just for sipping), but he also includes great info on wine regions around the world, when to go visit, and which wineries are must-sees. He lists some of his favorite labels for each type of wine, and he also includes advice on ordering wine at restaurants (don’t sniff the cork! It makes you a dork!), storing wine, decanting and serving, etc. It truly is a comprehensive guide that isn’t laborious to get through. Extremely readable!
Novice and experienced wine drinkers alike will get a lot out of this guide, but if you truly are a novice, I would suggest learning at least a little more about wine before reading this book; he does assume you have some basic knowledge of wine and you’ll get more out of the book if you do have that knowledge. Years ago I actually bought “Wine for Dummies” and it’s actually a great primer.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book! It will not only have a permanent place on my bookshelf and will likely end up quite dog-eared, but I’ll be giving it as gifts to friends who are also interested in wine. I’ll be curious to see how my local wine shops respond when I come in with a list of wines I want to try that he’s recommended!
I like this book, but I wouldn’t pay full price for it. It’s got some good information presented in a look-it-up-as-you-go type of way. The information is straightforward, but if you’re not really up on your wine knowledge, you might find it a bit boring.
If you’re a total beginner- maybe you saw sideways, you think yellowtail is as good as the stuff on the top shelf, you’re probably not going to appreciate this.
You might enjoy it a bit more if say you know what you like, you know at least a little bit about the different varietals and such and want to experiment with different flavors. Also really helpful if you’re the type who enjoys eating ‘in season.’
I purchased this for a gift and was very pleased with the wine duffle. The product was well made and looked like it would hold up to repeated use. The color was true to the picture and everything arrived in good condition. This was a good value for the price.

This is an absolutely ravishing recording of songs from Shakespeare’s plays, impeccably recorded and performed by artists of stunning ability. While being as faithful to period performance as possible, there is a very relatable and contemporary sound to these works.
It is impossible to single out one performer over any of the others; it’s simply the best combination of talent one could hope for in a recording like this. For anyone interested in Shakespeare and/or in Renaissance English music, this is a must-have.
(I was so impressed with this CD set that I’ve purchased the accompanying book as well!)
